Fox Bramble

Fox Bramble is a new theatrical company in Portland, Maine. It is a collaboration between myself and Todd Brian Backus.

What is Fox Bramble?

Fox Bramble Theatre Company exists to explore the weird and wilder sides of theatre. Founders Backus and Bryer want to get into the prickly, thorny, parts of the canon that are oft left unexplored in favor of more well-trod paths. Like a fox on the hunt, we aim to seek out fresh plays of the American theatre that draw blood.

Fox Bramble’s first foray was at Pop-Up PortFringe in 2025 with a modern retelling of A Cask of Amontillado called Monty written and directed by Todd Brian Backus. He and Rebekah Bryer decided to formally found the company in 2025 and they produced a fundraiser reading of Backus’ Emily Dickinson: Paranormal Investigator in Poe’s Finest Hour in the Studio Theatre at Portland Stage.
